Your first playgroup visit is free.
Your state or territory playgroup association can tell you about visiting a playgroup for free* the first time or possibly couple of times.
This gives you the chance to decide if you want to keep attending that playgroup each week without making an upfront financial committment. After the initial free session, you may feel that you want to check out a different playgroup and consider your options before joining.
Many people look at a few playgroups near them and then decide which they like best. Then they pay an annual fee to become a ongoing playgroup member.
* the 'try before you buy' free playgroup visits only applies to new members and some playgroups may ask for a session contribution of $2-4, to cover their expenses (eg. morning tea)
